Get a Bible

What kind of bible should a beginner get? We’re glad you asked! Some good versions to start with are NLT (New Living Translation),  ESV (English Standard  Version), or  NIV (New International Version).

Once you've chosen, a great place to start reading is the book of John. It tells the story of the life of Jesus on earth.

Find a Church

Finding a church is not easy but it's important that you get around a community of people that will help you grow in your faith. Here are some things to look for:

1. Find a church that takes time to know and love you, but also one that will challenge you to become more like Christ.

Just because it feels good doesn’t mean it’s right!

2.  One of the reasons there are so many churches is because people interpret the Bible differently. That’s ok but there are some fundamentals that the church you choose should be solid on:

  • The Bible is the only word of God and it is complete truth

  •  The only way to heaven is through salvation

  • There is one God and he exists in 3 persons (The Trinity)

Keep trying till you find one you like and then get plugged in. Community is important to your growth!

PS: We would love to have you at Devoted Church🙂

Spend Time with God

Once you start reading your bible you'll find that even Jesus himself took time away to spend with God. He wants relationship with us and spending time with Him daily will draw you closer to Him. Here are some things you can do everyday:

1. Set a time and place:  Find a time that works for your schedule and stick to it. Choose a location that allows time and space to focus.

2. Pray:  It doesn’t need to be  complicated, you can simply talk to God like you're talking to a friend!

3. Read your Bible:  Start with the book of John and get into a community of other believers who can help you understand and answer your questions.
